Hobbies and Interests

Philip Bernabo is a Dallas-based hospitality professional with a variety of personal passions that shape his life outside of work. He created this blog to share these aspects of his life, ranging from camping and fishing to volunteer work.

Philip Bernabo is an outdoorsman who likes to be active in various ways. He plays indoor and outdoor volleyball at a number of places in Dallas, Texas. Volleyball is a great way to stay active, have fun, interact with people, and compete a little. Philip Bernabo has traveled to compete in indoor and outdoor tournaments over the years. He also travels to find great spots to go white water kayaking. He previously belonged to a local kayaking club and is looking to get involved in the community once more. Finally, Philip Bernabo likes to go fishing, which is the most relaxing out of all of these activities.

As a hospitality professional who has worked in many hotels and restaurants, Philip Bernabo enjoys cooking and trying new food, restaurants, and bars. He enjoys traveling and eating at the places the locals do, avoiding the tourist traps and seeking out mom and pop type places. Philip has 15 years of experience and has been a top server in various fine dining restaurants. Over the course of his career he has held a variety of increasingly executive roles in the industry, including Server, Trainer, Bartender, Manager, and Assistant General Manager. Philip enjoys the change of pace that he can have by simply being a guest at some of the best restaurants around.

Philip Bernabo also enjoys volunteering with a variety of organizations. He spent two years volunteering at a big cat sanctuary feeding animals such as lions, tigers, jaguars, cougars, and more. He volunteered at a home for Alzheimer’s patients for six months, along with two different AIDS Hospices for a couple of years, and a food kitchen. Currently he just started feeding the homeless one Friday a month. Previously, in his college days, he was a peer mentor at Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma. He also previously spoke on Sunday nights for a college program at Northwood Church.
